Recientemente en uno de los clubes más populares de Nueva York, un DJ declaró, después de pinchar “So Hard”, uno de los temas de Pet Shop Boys del álbum Behaviour: “ahora escuchad los sintetizadores que toca este loco bávaro, Harold Faltermeyer… ” . Es uno de los compositores más exitosos de Alemania y, sin embargo, una marca registrada en Hollywood casi nunca visible pero muy audible. Uno puede afirmar fácilmente que todo el mundo ha escuchado su música en algún momento, desde el gran éxito de finales de los 70 "Hot Stuff" hasta algunas de las mejores bandas sonoras de Hollywood y partituras originales como Top Gun o Superdetective en Hollywood. Ha estado nominado cinco veces a los premios Grammy y lo ha ganado en dos ocasiones. Primero por Mejor Álbum de Banda Sonora Original escrita para una Película o Especial de Televisión en 1986, como co-autor de la banda sonora de Superdetective en Hollywood; y luego en 1987 por la Mejor Interpretación Instrumental Pop con el guitarrista Steve Stevens por "Top Gun Anthem” de la banda sonora de la película.
Desde los comienzos con cantantes alemanes y para la televisión alemana hasta las partituras de Superdetective en Hollywood, Top Gun, Ladrón de pasiones, Fletch el camaleón, Perseguido hasta Tango & Cash, Cop Out (Vaya par de polis), o los scores de los videojuegos Jack Orlando y Dos mundos, por nombrar algunos de sus trabajos.
Son muchos los talentos de Harold Faltermeyer, en su web se define como “Compositor, productor, tecladista, editor, ingeniero de sonido y music man“.
Todo esto es cierto, pero hay mucho más por descubrir. Él elabora su propia cerveza, produce vino, tiene su propia carnicería y un taller de carpintería totalmente equipado donde construye varias piezas únicas. Además es un apasionado cazador y pescador, alpinista, piloto y submarinista.

One can easily claim, that everyone has listen to his music at one point, from the late ’70 smash hit “Hot Stuff” to some of Hollywood's biggest soundtracks and original scores like Top Gun or Beverly Hills Cop. And in 2019, after 32 years the story continues with Top Gun Maverick. He did score the movie again which is going to be released May 27, 2022.

From the beginnings with German singers and for German TV to scores on and of Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun, Thief Of Hearts, Fletch, The Running Man all the way to Tango & Cash, Cop Out, and the computer game score Jack Orlando and Two Worlds to name a few.
No word could start to describe all of Harold Faltermeyer's talents, on his website it says: “Composer, Producer, Keyboardist, Publisher, Sound Engineer and Music Man“.
All of this is true, yet there is so much more to discover. He brews his own beer, produces wine, has his own butchery and a fully equipped carpenter shop where he builds various unique woodworks. Beside that he is a passionate huntsman and fisherman, mountaineer, pilot and scubadiver.
